another cool idea |

my colleague is going to do owl pellet experiments and use the DC so the students can see what she is doing when she models what they will do. She's also going to use the record feature so later students can use it to write a lab report with the process they used, etc. I think they are so many great uses for it in a science class.

This is a great use for the doc cam! Did you know that AVerVision document cameras have a time-lapse feature in their software? So lets say you were waiting for eggs to hatch...but you know they always do overnight or over a weekend! So, you can set your document camera to take a snapshot at whatever interval you set it to for up to three days. That way when you get back to class on Monday, and the eggs have hatched you can go back though the images and see how it happened.

I had no idea a doc cam could be used to take time-lapsed photos! I can see so many uses for that feature...hatching the eggs, of course, plant growth, butterfly metamorphosis...the possibilities are endless!
I don't have a doc cam (yet!) but I want one SO BAD. I can think of so many ways that it could be used in my kindergarten classroom. |

I would even use the time lapse feature to take random pictures of my class throughout the day. I always wish that I had more pictures of my students working but who as a teacher has time to stop and grab their camera?!

A friend has a document camera and teaches science. She has a microscope attachment for the document camera. It is a great item to have, if you teach science! |

You could record your lesson for future planning or even if you are absent your sub can use the materials to teach!

Hermit crabs | #7 | ||

The time lapse camera would be an excellent feature to use with my hermit crabs and ant farm I have in the classroom. The crabs never come out when the kids are around because they are noisy. They would love to see them in action. It would also help to track the tunnels that the ants make over time. |

WOW! I knew that there were a lot of neat ways of using a doc. camera in one's classroom, BUT I had never heard of using it for time lapsing. That is amazing. Thanks for sharing!

At my school we share a document camera so it is hard to plan on having it for a certian lesson. I have used it to do read alouds so the kids can actully see the details in the pictures. I also use it to model good responses or answers to questions from a story. The kids can actully see me writing on the worksheet they should be to. This way they have an exact example in the same format color and all. It would be amazing to have one to use all the time. |
